Watch: Is This the Biggest New Jersey…Ever?

Over the weekend a massive, El Nino fueled Gulf low powered up the east coast, bringing with it heavy rain, tropical storm strength winds, and a whole hell of a lot of swell. 

While FL was firing and the OBX had a wild afternoon window, the winds switched hard west in NJ during the early morning hours Monday, setting up the perfect scenario: 15 feet of swell, offshore winds, with no outer sandbars to beat down the swell. 

The result? The biggest, most perfect tubes in the Garden State since….well, maybe forever. 

Sure, that’s a big call. And recency bias is definitely at play here. But either way, it’s a day that might not happen for another decade, or three.

But then again, this is an El Nino winter, so maybe we’ll see another massive south swell next month?
