Kelly Slater Calls Zeke the King of Wavepool Surfing (Clip)

In this new, synthetic surfing era – in which manmade waves are popping up all over the place – surfers are quickly becoming specialists, exclusively in wavepools.

A “wavepool surfer,” if you will.

Sorta like a skateboarder who kills it in their home skatepark, yet not so much out on the streets, or a snowboarder who knows a terrain park like the back of their hand, but looks like a fish outta water in the backcountry, wavepool surfers are becoming a thing.

If there’s any surfer who’s becoming a wavepool specialist, it’s Jacob “Zeke” Szekely.

He’s a self-proclaimed “King of Wavepools.”

And people are taking notice; people like Kelly Slater.

During a recent appearance on Steve-O’s podcast, Slater said:

“You’ve already seen big maneuvers…airs and flips and stuff. The progress has been crazy in the last few years with wavepools.”

Steve-O replied:

“Our buddy Zeke; Zeke is insane.”

Slater:

“Zeke is classic. I see him all over the place. He can imagine an air and then go do it. That’s what he’s been doing in Waco.”

And claiming his title as king, Zeke captioned:

“In Case You Guys Forgot, I’m Still the King of This WavePool Shit👑 I’ve Landed 3 NBD’s & Surfed 9 Different WavePools Around the World! I’ll Smoke Anybody in any WavePool, Anytime AnyPlace! Here’s just a couple Clips I Found to showcase my Point👊⛓️ #KingofWaco #OTC

Anyone going to try and take the throne? Trial by combat? Dual in the pool?

Stay tuned.
